This creates an issue when it comes to our stove installation. The space between the countertops and the bottom of the upper cabinets is ~17". The upper cabinets were installed at the normal height (54" from the floor). To avoid having the top drawers hit the nosing, he installed an extra layer of plywood to lift the counters up. He neglected to account for that when building the cabinets. When my kitchen was constructed (before I owned the house), the builder installed counters with ~2 1/4" nosing. I'm not particularly well versed in construction and everyone knows this is the place the get answers. Looking for input from construction/handy mags.
